News & notes

 It was an up & down weekend for the Albany Patroons.

After running their winning streak to 8 in a row in beating Tri-State on Saturday, the Pats dropped just their third game this season, all on the road, losing to Syracuse, 106-99, in a game contested at Liverpool High. The two teams will meet again at the Armory in the rubber game of the season series on Wednesday. This is a make-up game for a COVID-induced postponement last month. Tip time is 7 pm.
=========================================
We've seen crazy, softball-style scores in baseball at various levels, including the majors.

Saturday's Tri-City Valleycats game vs. the Florence Y'alls was no different, as the 'Cats rallied to win the rubber game of the series, 14-13. Come to think of it, that sounds like a football score, too.

Tri-City's home opener is Tuesday vs. Lake Erie.
========================================
We're all waiting for the result of Saturday's sectional tennis match between Scotia-Glenville and Burnt Hills, which, as of press time, has not been reported.

Meanwhile, the rest of the sectional tennis schedule is set as follows:

Today:

Class AA:

Saratoga @ Bethlehem.
Shaker @ Shenendehowa.

The winners will meet at Central Park in Schenectady, scheduled for tomorrow. With rain in the forecast, things could change.

Class B:

Greenville @ Ichabod Crane.
Glens Falls @ LaSalle.

Class C/D:

Mekeel Christian @ Maple Hill.
Lake George @ Hadley-Luzerne.

All of the finals are scheduled for Central Park, which has multiple courts so that the four meets can play concurrently.
