"Mike Tyson's Fight Night", taking place today at 4 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, was supposed to be a mix of pro & amateur MMA bouts, hosted by the retired boxing icon.
However, the promoters have cancelled the pro matches on the card, so it'll now be an all amateur show, promoted by Cage Wars, who have previously hosted events at the Washington Avenue Armory. With the show built around the fact that the Egg was the site of Tyson's 1st fight in 1985, they simply moved across the road for this event.

The Tri-City Valleycats sought to trade one of the best and most popular players, Juan Silverio, during the all-star break to an Atlantic League team. The rival Sussex County Miners had other ideas, so they claimed Silverio off waivers on Thursday. Gamesmanship, you know.
So, on Friday, the 'Cats came out of the break, and spanked the Gateway Grizzlies, 16-4, capped by an 8-run 7th inning barrage to put this out of reach. Denis Phipps & Brad Zunica had two homers each, and Brantley Bell added one for the 'Cats.

Shenendehowa grad Ian Anderson was originally set to face the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Friday, but Atlanta manager Brian Snitker reset his rotation so Anderson would not have to be opposite the Angels' two-way phenom, Shohei Ohtani. Instead, Charlie Morton got the call, but not the win, as the Braves beat the Angels, 8-1. Anderson instead pitches Sunday, and will likely still have to pitch to Ohtani, who will be the DH as he finishes his 1st visit to Atlanta.
