News & notes

Momentum can be a fickle beast.

Troy High found that out Tuesday night, as the afternoon rains dissolved what momentum remained from the volleyball & football team's victories on Saturday, and the men's soccer team picking up their first win on Monday.

The rains let up long enough for Shaker to beat Troy in women's soccer, 7-0. Indoors, the Bison escaped with a 3-1 win in volleyball. A late rally in the 4th set that could've forced a deciding 5th set was thwarted.

There may be hope for LaSalle's hockey team to play at Hudson Valley Community College after all.

A HVCC source close to the situation says that President Roger Ramsammy, who has been with HVCC three years, is getting pushback not only from the community, but from the Board of Trustees as well. As of now, LaSalle has just one game scheduled for Frear Park, and that is against Shenendehowa. on January 13. We'll keep a watch on this story.

Siena College is looking for a new broadcast partner for their men's basketball games.

WGDJ-AM announced Tuesday that due to a lack of available staff, they will discontinue carrying Siena men's basketball, filling the evening space with their usual lineup of right wing talk shows. As of now, the student-run WVCR (The Saint 88.3 FM) would be a natural fit. I would also suggest WOFX (980 AM).

Stay tuned.
