News & notes

John Imbriale has called his last race at Saratoga.

The 67 year old track announcer wrapped his 3rd season at the upstate track on Monday, and will be back in the booth at Belmont on Friday. Next season, though, there'll be some new voices in the booth as Imbriale settles into a "partial" retirement in Florida.

Chris Griffin moves over from Parx in Pennsylvania to take over at Aqueduct sometime in 2023. When Saratoga re-opens next July, Frank Miramahdi comes over from Santa Anita to succeed Imbriale. Griffin will almost certainly hear his share of jokes referencing his animated namesake from Family Guy, if he hasn't already endured that at Parx.

In other Saratoga news, Mechanicville native Chad Brown, despite his legal troubles, won his 5th straight training title, while Irad Ortiz, Jr. made it four straight riding titles. Some things never change.
