News & notes

When the final out is recorded tonight at Joe Bruno Stadium, the 2022 season will end for the Tri-City Valleycats.

After beating Empire State, 12-6, on Friday, the 'Cats were officially eliminated from playoff contention, as Ottawa defeated Quebec.

So all the 'Cats did last night was win again, beating the Greys, 4-2. They've already announced that manager Pete Incaviglia will return in 2023.

To borrow from the late Stevie Ray Vaughn, the Great Danes of UAlbany got caught in a "Texas Flood".

A flood of scoring, that is, from Baylor University.

As expected, the Bears, out of the Big 12, beat the Danes like a team of rented goalies (apologies to Keith Olbermann), 69-10, in a game that aired on ESPN+. Albany will have their home opener at Bob Ford Field at Casey Stadium next Saturday night vs. New Hampshire.
