One year ago, Troy High accepted an invitation to play in Averill Park's annual Tip-Off tournament, and finished 3rd, winning the consolation game over South Glens Falls after getting shellacked by former league doormat Burnt Hills.
Tonight, Troy had the headline game against host Averill Park, a team that has owned Troy over the last few years. This was not for the feint of heart.
Oh, sure, Troy actually led briefly in the 1st quarter, but after the Warriors moved back in front to stay, late in the quarter, coach Sean Organ tightened up the defensive pressure as the Warrior offense built a big lead.
Deja vu, anyone?
Once again, Troy could not break the full court pressure, and were held to 15 points in the 2nd half, as Averill Park rolled, 66-26. Averill Park will play South Glens Falls tomorrow night, while Troy plays Columbia in the consolation game. The Bulldogs upset the Blue Devils, 45-43, in the opener.
