 Hard to believe, but indoor lacrosse season starts tonight, as the Albany FireWolves begin a new season on the road at Buffalo (7 pm, WNYA, Spectrum channel 1215). The 'Wolves open the home portion of their schedule at MVP Arena in 2 weeks.

Former Tri-City Valleycat Jason Castro has announced his retirement after a major league career that saw him finish it where he started, with the Houston Astros.

Castro and the Astros won the World Series, beating Philadelphia, but Castro was injured and unable to play in the Series. He had returned to Houston for his 2nd tour of duty after leaving the Astros some years earlier, and played with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Minnesota Twins before returning "home".
