News & notes

The season opener in women's lacrosse between Niskayuna and Guilderland, played at Schenectady because the turf field at Niskayuna is being renovated, was delayed for several minutes in the 1st half Tuesday when Schenectady went into lockdown due to an armed man in the area, whom police later apprehended.

Niskayuna won the game, 10-7.

In other Troy High news, the school has cancelled its entire junior varsity lacrosse schedule, as they don't have enough players to fill a JV roster. We've noted previously that the Flying Horses are taking on more of an independent schedule, with some Suburban Council games mixed in, a la soccer in the fall, in the hope of improving their record. They are forging ahead, however, with a modified schedule for middle school players (grades 7 & 8) as of now.
