News & notes

When Kevin Smith (Columbia/Maryland) played against the Mets, he was kept in the ballpark. On Monday, he hit his first homer of the season, a 3 run blast, to help Oakland defeat the LA Angels, 11-10, in extra innings.

Last night, though, was a different story. Smith went 1-4, and the Angels evened the series.

Bank on this. He might have to have some complimentary tickets for friends & family when the A's come to the Bronx later this season.

WROW's Ben Patten is reporting that the Adirondack Thunder have experienced some travel issues, forcing their playoff games vs. Newfoundland to be postponed. Game 4, with the Growlers leading the series, 2-1, is now set for tomorrow at 5:30. Patten didn't go into specifics, but one suspects visa and/or medical issues (read: COVID) might have something to do with the delay.
