Troy High sports review, through October 12

Troy High golf has packed up their clubs. Women's tennis has swapped their racquets for whatever uniforms they may be wearing later in the year. We still have football, volleyball, & soccer for the rest of the month.

Golf:

Final record: 8-6. Troy closes with a 2 match losing streak after falling to two sets of Cadets, Albany Academy & LaSalle, the latter of whom swept their season series.

Tennis:

Final record: 1-8. Devin Robinson's team was eliminated by Queensbury in the sectionals on Friday.

Football:

Current record: 3-3 (0-3 Class A Capital Division).

Jordan Canzeri's club rallied from a 16-14 halftime deficit to take down South Glens Falls, 47-30, on Friday.

This week: The homestand continues vs. Amsterdam (2-4), a narrow winner over Mohonasen. Troy needs to win out to have any semblance of a shot at the playoffs.

Swimming & diving:

Troy placed 2nd behind LaSalle in a 3-team meet that also involved Academy of Holy Names. I don't know how that would look in the standings.

This week: Emily Caboot's ladies are back in the pool Wednesday vs. Albany, then on the road at Ballston Spa on Friday.

Volleyball:

Current record: 5-6 (5-4 Colonial Council).

Talia Valenti's talented squad lost to Ichabod Crane, then beat Albany Academy.

This week: The ladies entertain Voorheesville on Tuesday and non-league foe Tamarac on Friday. In between is a road trip to Cohoes.

Men's soccer:

Current record: 3-9-2 (2-5-2 Colonial Council).

Troy completed a season sweep of Lansingburgh, after they in turn had been swept by Cohoes.

This week: Senior Night is Tuesday vs. Mohonasen. Russ Hines' club finishes Saturday morning at Ichabod Crane.

Women's soccer:

Current record: 6-7-1 (4-7-1 Colonial Council).

Jarret Farrell's group was swept by Cohoes, then got an unexpected night off when Senior Night was delayed.

This week: The ladies are at Mohonasen with revenge on their minds on Tuesday, then a quick turnaround back home for Senior Night vs. Lansingburgh. Finishing the season above .500 overall would be nice. Soccer sectional pairings will be announced October 21.
