News & notes

 One week after their national television debut, Hudson Valley Community College dropped its 2nd straight football game, falling to East Coast Prep, 26-13, squaring their record at 2-2. Watching the game without sound is not cool, and is an indicator of the disconnect between the athletic & communications departments. HVCC doesn't have a campus radio station, but maybe they should consider a deal with UAlbany's channel....
========================================
Speaking of UAlbany, the Great Danes snapped a 2 game losing streak, going to double overtime to beat Morgan State, 23-17. The Great Danes are also 2-2, and start conference play next week at home.
========================================
Union & RPI have been feasting on tomato cans to start the season.

RPI began pulling their starters before halftime as they demolished Dean College, 63-0. The Engineers were up, 56-0, at halftime, and didn't score again until the 4th quarter. RPI is now 4-0, and begins league play in 2 weeks, as they continue their homestand at East Campus Village Stadium. Dean falls to 1-3.

Meanwhile, Union crushed Montclair State, 43-7, to go to 4-0.
=========================================
Burnt Hills---surprise, surprise----won their own tournament in volleyball on Saturday, sweeping 3 opponents in the Cider Challenge, beating Cornwall and Foothills Council representatives South Glens Falls & Broadalbin-Perth. Only Cornwall won a set from the Spartans.

Averill Park also hosted a volleyball tournament, but results were not reported.
===========================================
To break down how bad things have been for Troy High football after 3 games, consider this:

Troy's defense has given up 148 points, or, 49.1 points per game.

Troy's offense has only score 34 points, or 11.1 points per game.

The disparity, of course, went the other way under Bob Burns (2015-21). Jordan Canzeri has to find cohesion in his offensive & defensive lines, and, maybe change quarterbacks. Jeremie Archambeault reclaimed the starting job this season after being a backup last year, and starting in 2021 under John Barber. In a way, Archambeault is Troy's answer to Jets QB Zach Wilson, and that's all I'll say.
