Can we give RPI's ACHA hockey team some love?

The ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) is never in the papers because few outside of RPI and the ECAC know of its existence, and that's a shame, because you have 2 sets of men's hockey teams at the school, but only the ECAC team gets the attention. The ACHA Engineers, like the ECAC women, are treated like Rodney Dangerfield.

Friday, the ACHA Engineers hosted Vermont's ACHA team at Houston Field House, the start of a busy Homecoming weekend at RPI. RPI defeated Vermont, 4-1. Check the video:

LaSalle's football team ran its winning streak to 3 in a row in beating Columbia, 32-14, on Friday. The Cadets (4-2 overall) will have Senior Night next week vs. Averill Park before traveling to Bethlehem. After a hot start, the Blue Devils have dropped 2 of their last 3.

Meanwhile, Troy High is 0-5 after being blown out at home by Bethlehem, 42-0. Jordan Canzeri's club goes on the road the next two weeks, at Amsterdam & Averill Park, hoping to salvage their season. The playoffs are off the table at this point. Troy has not scored in roughly 2 1/2 games, and has seen its scoring average plummet to 6.8 points per game, while they've allowed 207 points in 5 games, or, an average of 41.4 points per game. Whatever progress was achieved vs. LaSalle last week in a 17-0 loss seems to have disappeared under an intense Eagles defense.

Troy's unified women's swimming & diving team (w/Averill Park & Tamarac) was supposed to have a meet vs. Albany on Friday, but that was postponed a few days in advance. No reason given for the postponement.
