News & notes

In the run-up to Friday's CBA-Shenendehowa football game, an unnamed CBA JV coach had posted a message on social media following the Brothers' JV win over the Plainsmen on Thursday. The coach dropped an F-bomb on Shen for whatever, illustrating just how intense the rivalry has become between Class AA rivals.

Just the last thing CBA needed right before the varsity game, won by Shen.

Athletic directors Blaine Drescher of CBA & Chris Culnan of Shen met Thursday night & Friday, and both are satisfied with how the Brothers handled the situation internally.

At the end, you might say Karma favored Shen on Friday night.

It was Homecoming weekend at RPI, starting with Friday's ACHA hockey win over Vermont. It continued Saturday with a triple-header. Football & women's soccer at East Campus Village Stadium, and a pre-season men's hockey game vs. Union at Houston Field House.

The football Engineers played through a early afternoon rainstorm against Liberty League rival Ithaca, and came from behind to force overtime with a last second field goal in the 4th quarter. However, the Bombers won in OT, 20-17, handing RPI its first loss of the season.

Later in the afternoon, in a preview of the regular season series between Union & RPI, the teams skated to a 2-2 tie through overtime, but RPI won the shootout, 2-0, to win the game. Back at East Campus Village Stadium, the Lady Engineers shut out Skidmore, 2-0.
