Could this year's Turkey Trot have been a warmup for next summer's Olympics in Paris?

In Troy, 10K winner James Withers of Utica, and 5K champion Jonathan Aziz of Colorado are hoping that is the case. Both have plans for a Olympic Trials marathon on December 3.

Meanwhile, Schenectady's Amanda Chambers repeated in winning the 5K for the women, while Karen Bertasso Hughes of Selkirk won the women's 10K. Like Withers & Aziz, Hughes will be heading to the California International Marathon on December 3. Aziz, a Guilderland native, ran track in high school at Bishop Gibbons, and collegiately at Syracuse.

There were other races, too.

Hometowner Fritz Knecht won the Cambridge 5K. Brittany Denton of Greenwich won the women's race.

Chris Senez of Baldwinsville captured the Cohoes Turkey Trot. Cameron Schwartz of West Sand Like won the women's race.

Niskayuna grad Louis Serafini won the men's 5K in the Schenectady Cardiac Classic. Kerry Flower, 7th overall, was the women's champion.

Ballston Spa's Shaun Donegan won the Christopher Dailey 5K in Saratoga. Tara Peck of Gansevoort was the women's champion.
