News & notes

 We were wrong about Averill Park hosting a men's basketball tournament.

What actually happened was that on Tuesday, AP and Mohonasen traveled to the North Country to play South Glens Falls & Queensbury, respectively. A very unusual scheduling arrangement, one that didn't work in favor of Averill Park or Mohonasen.

That being said, let's get to the scoreboard:

===============================================
After bringing back Brian Beaury to coach their men's basketball team, and signing Will Brown to lead the women's team, and with the women's soccer team closing in on a national title, the College of St. Rose is in debt, and could be forced to close, according to the Albany Times-Union. The board of trustees at St. Rose has reached out to the state and other agencies for emergency funding, but, as of now, none is coming. Any state aid that could help is at least months away, according to a state lawmaker.

Stay tuned.
