News & notes

Not only was Siena missing sophomore star Michael Eley (hamstring) yet again on Sunday, but Sean Durogordon was also out. That, going into a Sunday matinee vs. St. Peter's, was a recipe for disaster.

After being tied at 33-33 at halftime, the Saints were outscored, 30-19, in the 2nd half, as St. Peter's pulled away to a 63-52 win. Zek Tekin led Siena with 22 points. Mason Courtney (Shenendehowa) had 5 points in 33 minutes.

Siena heads to New Jersey Friday night to play Ruder before returning to MVP Arena to play Mount St. Mary's next Sunday in another matinee at 2 pm.

The only high school action on Sunday was outside of Section II, as Burnt Hills-Ballston Spa wrapped a weekend road trip in Western NY with a loss to Oswego, 5-3. If the season were to end now, the Spartan Scotties would be the #7 seed in the Section II tournament, as they trail front-running Shenendehowa by 12 points.

Sunday's snow didn't have much of an effect on today's high school schedule. As of now, only one event has been postponed, that being a men's volleyball match between independent Loudonville Christian and Cobleskill-Richmondville, currently representing the Colonial Council, but will be headed for the Western Athletic Conference next season.
