News & notes

Glens Falls native Joseph Girard III had Saturday marked on his calendar.

Girard, who transferred from Syracuse to Clemson after last season following the retirement of longtime Orange coach Jim Boeheim, returned to Syracuse on Saturday, and, in front of a national television audience on ESPN, led the Tigers to a 77-68 victory. Girard finished with 18 points, cracking the 2,000 point barrier for his career.

Girard had 1 year of eligibility left, and has made the most of it. He's likely to be drafted into the NBA come June.

Siena snapped a 7 game losing streak in men's basketball, beating Manhattan, 68-63. Michael Eley led the way with 24 points despite the fears of his hamstring acting up on him again. Mason Courtney (Shenendehowa) came off the bench to score 11 points, including 3 3 pointers, and all of his points came in the 1st half. The Saints will visit St. Peter's on Friday night.

RPI & Colgate played to a 4-4 tie in overtime, but the Golden Knights won in a shootout, the 2nd such loss for RPI in as many weeks, as they lost to Yale the same way a week earlier.

RPI's still having issues with their online stream, likely due to an extra influx of listeners due to alumni weekend.
