News & notes

As the regular season wraps up tonight, the Capital District High School Hockey League has already released the bracket for its tournament, which will start on Friday with play-in games.

First, Tuesday's results:

CD Jets 7, Bethlehem 5. The Eagles' six game winning streak ends in stunning fashion.

Albany Academy & the Mohawks skated to a 4-4 tie.

The final night of regular season action sees a doubleheader in Glens Falls. First, LaSalle plays Adirondack at 5:30 pm. Then, first place is on the line in the league as Queensbury hosts Shenendehowa at 7:40 pm.

Even though the coaches meeting takes place tomorrow, the brackets are already out, as noted:

Friday:

Guilderville at CBA. Winner to play #3 Saratoga.

Saturday:

Albany Academy at Burnt Hills-Ballston Spa. Winner to play #2 Bethlehem.

Mohawks at LaSalle. Winner plays #1 Shenendehowa. Queensbury, remember, plays in Division II, and does not play in the Section II tournament, otherwise, the last place Storm would not be in the tournament.

The quarterfinals, including Adirondack at the Jets, will be on Monday.

Queensbury gets a bye into the Division two semifinals in Ithaca one week from today. The Section II semis are February 22, with the finals on the 25th, both events at Union College.
