When Troy High begins baseball season next month, there indeed will be a new face in the dugout.
With Chris Stack promoted to assistant principal at the start of the season, Trevor McCarthy, who was an assistant under football coach Jordan Canzeri this fall, will be the new baseball coach. McCarthy inherits a team that fell way short of expectations last year.
We're also finding out there are some familiar names to Section II fans on the basketball coaching staffs.
Ex-Patroon JJ Harvey (Colonie) was on Josh Pelletier's staff in the just concluded basketball season. Drew Signor (CBA) was working with the boys' modified team, and, as far as we know, it's the first coaching jobs at this level for both.
Now, here's to hoping both, along with Pelletier and women's coach Will Harris, are retained for next season and beyond.

Brett Young (Albany Academy/Siena/VCU) was 1-2 with an RBI before being lifted for a pinch-hitter. Game 2 is later today at 1 pm.
