News & notes

When Iowa and their superstar, Caitlin Clark, roll into town tomorrow for the NCAA Women's Sweet 16, Caitlin, at least, will have an escort that can show her around the city. If only because he grew up here.

Connor McCaffrey, son of Iowa men's coach Fran McCaffrey, spent his early years here when his father coached at Siena.

There will be a pool on how many times ABC's cameras will focus on the younger McCaffrey during Saturday's game vs. Colorado.

If ye scribe had enough time this morning, I could've notified WROW morning host Ben Patten that today's Mets-Brewers game has been postponed to tomorrow in anticipation of rain in NYC. Ben has been flying solo since his last co-host, Monica Velez, left town 14 months ago. Suffice to say, Ben needs a fact-checker.

Round one of baseball's Battle of The Cadets goes to LaSalle.

Jesse Braverman's club bested Albany Academy, 6-1, on Tuesday night on a neutral site in Queensbury, in a game delayed two hours so the grounds crew to ensure the field was playable.

No high school scores were reported from Wednesday as of press time. Maybe tomorrow.
