News & notes

For those of you Troy High supporters planning on attending tonight's game at Bruno Stadium, change your plans.

Due to Friday's games being rained out, Troy & LaSalle have postponed the game to play league games instead. Troy will host Shaker at 4:15. Mohonasen replaces Troy as the opponent for LaSalle at The Joe at 6 pm. No make-up date has been set for Troy-LaSalle. League games take priority over non-league games.
For what it's worth, the game was listed for a 4:35 start at Geer Field in the paper, but that's not happening, of course.

Bethlehem grad Claire Hutton has turned pro.

The 18 year old, who was an early graduate from Bethlehem, has signed a 3 year deal with the Kansas City Current of the National Women's Soccer League, where the Current are 3-0 prior to Sunday's home opener vs. NJ-NY Gotham FC.

The Albany Patroons have won 5 straight after beating Tri-State, 111-98, at the Washington Avenue Armory on Sunday. Trevis Wyche led 4 Pats in double figures with 35 points despite an ankle injury.

Jamil Hood (Green Tech/Bryant & Stratton) was also dinged up, and finished with 7 points. Derrick Rowland, Jr. (Green Tech/New Haven) added 14. The Pats go back on the road Saturday at Frederick (Maryland).

While we still don't have all the scores from week 1 of Section II flag football (shame on the schools), we do know there are at least three undefeated teams as play resumes on Wednesday. Troy, Columbia, and Shaker are all 2-0. Shaker knocked off Albany in a high scoring affair, 40-31, on Friday.

Albany women's basketball coach Decky Lawson is coaching the Falcons' flag football team as well, and has brought some of his players off the hardwood, and onto the gridiron. The Falcons are 1-1, having scored 75 points in the two games. Albany blew away Bethlehem in their opener on April 10. The Falcons host city rival Albany Leadership on Wednesday, then visit Columbia on Friday.
