News & notes

He only spent two seasons in the 518, but Jared Verse will still carry some UAlbany with him into the NFL.

Verse, who transferred to Florida, was drafted in Thursday's 1st round of the NFL draft by the Los Angeles Rams. Because of his connections to the Great Danes, he merited headlines on newspaper & TV websites Thursday night.

According to media reports, the slurs were aimed at Native American players on Albany.

Stay tuned.
