News & notes

"The wind blows hard against this mountainside...."--Mr. Mister, "Kyrie", 1985.

On a breezy, windy day, Troy High played the first game of what was scheduled as a doubleheader vs. Schuylerville this morning. Troy was coming off a 23-0 mercy rule shellacking of Schenectady on Friday, and with the doubleheader would play 3 games in less than 24 hours.

Game time was pushed up a half hour to 10:30 am, with the change made in mid-week. Troy parents provided a between games spread consisting of a sub platter & snacks for players, coaches & their families.

After taking an early 1-0 lead, Troy fell behind, 5-1, going into the home half of the 5th inning. Kaylee Kussler tied the game with a 3 run homer, clearing the tall fence in left field. Olivia Ashline, one of Friday's stars, walked off the Black Horses with a run scoring single in the 8th inning to end it, as Troy wins, 6-5. We have no information on the 2nd game as of press time, and as ye scribe left the campus, the umpires appeared to be leaving, or waiting for relief for game 2.

We're also waiting for the result of Friday's flag football game between Troy & Niskayuna.
