 Shaker High grad Tommy Kahnle is heading to the World Series.

Kahnle and the Yankees advanced to the Fall Classic for the first time in 15 years on Saturday, and now will face an old, ancient nemesis in the Los Angeles Dodgers, who eliminated the Mets on Sunday. Game 1 is Friday in Los Angeles. Ex-Tri-City Valleycat Enrique "Kike" Hernandez will be waiting with the Dodgers.

Time to give high school field hockey some love, as sectional pairings have been made public.

Class A:

Thursday:

Shaker @ Shenendehowa. Winner to play Guilderland in the semi-finals a week later on Halloween.

Columbia @ Bethlehem.

Niskayuna @ Saratoga.

The winners of those two games will meet on October 31 as well, with Burnt Hills hosting the finals on November 3.

Class B:

October 29:

Glens Falls @ Burnt Hills.

Queensbury @ South Glens Falls.

The winners meet at Burnt Hills November 3.

Class C:

Wednesday:

Salem-Cambridge @ Greenwich. Winner to play Hoosick Falls on October 30.

Granville @ Schuylerville.

Corinth @ Johnstown.

The winners of those two games will meet October 30, with the finals at a site to be determined on November 3.

Soccer sectional pairings will be announced later today.
