News & notes

Will Brown has a new coaching job.

After turning the College of St. Rose around last season, only for the school to close in May, Brown has signed to be the women's basketball coach at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), which plays in the same league as Russell Sage College.

My advice to the folks at Sage would be to see about renting RPI's gym when MCLA comes to town. Just sayin'.

Pickleball has hit the 518.

The hottest new sport now has a facility in Menands, in a space that in the past has housed supermarkets (i.e. Price Chopper, Save-a-Lot). However, the recent opening went under the radar. That'll change in due course.

Please check with your schools to see if scheduled events are taking place today. Schools are closed for Jewish New Year today, with classes set to resume tomorrow.

Two events are already postponed:

Women's volleyball: Albany @ Troy was postponed a week ago, with no make-up date set.

Women's soccer: Troy @ Voorheesville has been pushed back to Monday.

To athletic directors: Please make sure the changes are reported to the local papers in a timely manner, as the Albany-Troy match is listed on today's schedule.
