Joseph Girard III had his high school number retired prior to Glens Falls' home game on Friday. Unlike when Shenendehowa retired Kevin Huerter's number a couple of weeks ago, the Black Bears won. I don't think Girard has any regrets about not getting drafted last summer.

When the seedings for the basketball sectionals are revealed later this week, some teams will, understandably, sit out due to poor performance.
For example, Schenectady, winless in women's action, will not participate, leaving a 6 team field for Class AAA.
In Class A, Gloversville, Hudson Falls, Hudson, & Emma Willard are opting out, although Colonial Council doormats Cohoes, Ravena, & Lansingburgh, will play. The Lady Knights, like Schenectady, have not won a game this season.
In Class B, Taconic Hills, Cairo-Durham, Canajoharie-Fort Plain, & Fonda-Fultonville will not play. In fact, I suspect Fonda-Fultonville didn't field a women's team this season. In Class C, North Warren, Granville, Middleburgh, Schoharie, Berlin-New Lebanon, & Hadley-Luzerne will pass.
Class D will have 6 teams after Fort Ann and Fort Edward chose to sit out.
On the men's side, Chatham will skip the Class B tournament. Hadley-Luzerne, Warrensburg, Mayfield, Berlin-New Lebanon, OESJ, Galway, & Argyle will skip the Class C tournament, leaving a 15 team field. Everyone else remains intact.

Justice Shoats led 5 players in double figures with 20 points as Siena dismissed Sacred Heart, 93-75, on Sunday. The Saints return to MVP Arena on Friday.

As a result of the above game, the playoffs are now set.

Wednesday: #10 Guilderville @ #7 Burnt Hills-Ballston Spa, 3:30 pm.
#11 CD Jets @ #6 CBA, 6:15 pm.
Friday: #5 Albany Academy @ #4 Adirondack, 7:40 pm.
Guilderville-Burnt Hills winner @ Shenendehowa, 2:45 pm.
CD Jets-CBA winner @ LaSalle, 7:15 pm. While a venue isn't listed as of press time, assume it'll be Knickerbacker Arena.
Saturday: Queensbury @ Ithaca, 11:45 am.

Speaking of LaSalle, Frear Park is closing the Park Pub, which serves as an entrance to the ice arena, so that might've been an underlying factor in the Cadets moving to Knickerbacker Arena, a move that has worked so far for LaSalle, as they've gone 2-0-2 in 4 games. The pub is being remodeled, and will reopen later this year. We think.
