News & notes

The Albany FireWolves close out their regular season tonight at MVP Arena, hosting San Diego (WNYA, 7 pm), likely unable to make the postseason after their run last year.

In addition to the usual promotions, CDTA joined the promotion this year with ads on their buses, in the hopes that fans would turn out. Apparently, it isn't happening.

Siena is saying good-bye to freshman Peppi Lohko from Finland, who is returning home to play pro ball next season. Lohko joined the Lady Saints in January, appearing in 15 games (13 starts), averaging 2.9 points & 2.5 rebounds per game.

Luckily, coach Terry Primm has some help coming. Albany's Azera Gates, currently starring for the Falcons in flag football, has committed to the Saints, and there are more players coming.

Sounds like next season may be a rebuilding year.

Former Saint Ronald Moore is joining Fran McCaffrey's staff at Penn next season. The school's all time assist leader (823 assists) was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame in 2017. This will be his first coaching job.
