Troy High sports review through April 12

As schools are closed this week for Passover/Easter, game times are moving up from their original times, depending on the day and game. Let's recap last week's action.

Flag football:

Current record: 3-1.

Frank Rogers' club saw their 3 game win streak end Friday in a 13-0 loss to Shaker. Saturday's game vs. Monroe-Woodbury was cancelled at the last minute due to weather.

Next: The Lady Horses are idle this week, and will resume play April 23 vs. Schenectady at home.

Baseball:

Current record: 1-1 (1-0 Colonial Council).

Year two for Trevor McCarthy began with a win over Schalmont in the home opener, but then, the Horses were bushwhacked by Averill Park in a 5 inning, 29-2 loss on Wednesday. Saturday's game at Rockland was cancelled, and unlikely to be made up due to weather.

Next: The boys are back home to play Burnt Hills on Tuesday, then Ravena on Thursday.

Men's lacrosse:

Current record: 1-2 (1-1 Colonial Council).

The laxmen earned their first win in blowing out Lansingburgh on Wednesday, 13-2.

Next: Troy hosts Johnstown on Wednesday and Voorheesville on Friday, with both games scheduled for 5 pm starts.

Softball:

Current record: 1-2 (1-0 Colonial Council).

Sean Geisel's club earned its first win in the league in beating Schalmont on Thursday.

Next: Troy hosts Ravena on Monday, then goes across town to play Holy Trinity (Catholic Central/Bishop Gibbons) at Knickerbacker Park on Tuesday, weather permitting. The week ends with a Saturday lunch special at Ballston Spa.
