Troy High sports review, through April 26

We are halfway through the spring season, but there's still plenty of work to do.

Softball:

Current record: 5-3 (5-0 Colonial Council).

Sean Geisel's club remains undefeated in league play, but outside of the Colonial, Troy has yet to win a non-league game. After beating LaSalle & Cohoes, the Lady Horses were mercy-ruled by Ballston Spa on Friday. Saturday's game vs. Glens Falls was rained out, and likely may not be made up. If it is, we'll let you know.

Next:

The Lady Horses welcome Mohonasen on Monday, Ichabod Crane on Wednesday, and will have a make-up game vs. Burnt Hills on Thursday. The Glens Falls game was to start a 4 game homestand, which is now down to 3. The week closes with a trip to Albany Academy.

Tennis:

Current record: 2-2.

Yes, you read that right. Because scores are not being reported to the press, we didn't know until scoping the THS website the other day, and finding that Troy defeated Schenectady-Mohonasen on April 14, and Cobleskill-Richmondville on Tuesday, before losing to Ichabod Crane on Thursday.

Next:

Albany Academy comes in Monday looking for a season sweep. Then, Ravena visits on Wednesday. The three match homestand ends with a non-league tilt vs. Schoharie on Friday.

Flag football:

Current record: 3-2.

Frank Rogers' club got an unexpected day off with Wednesday's game vs. Schenectady being postponed without explanation. Predictably, the Horses lost to Columbia on Friday.

Next:

The Lady Horses will be home to play Holy Trinity on Monday, then travel to Bethlehem on Friday before returning home to play Schenectady on Saturday at 10 am.

Baseball:

Current record: 4-4 (2-2 Colonial Council).

Trevor McCarthy's offense was missing in action most of the week, as Troy suffered shutout losses to LaSalle, Queensbury, & Lansingburgh, while shutting out Cohoes. Add the scores up, and Troy was outscored, 23-3, in the 4 games last week.

Next:

Troy hosts Mohonasen on Monday, Guilderland on Tuesday (weather permitting), and Ichabod Crane on Wednesday before visiting Albany Academy on Friday.

Lacrosse:

Current record: 1-5.

The losing streak continues, as Troy fell to Mohonasen-Schalmont-Schenectady. Saturday's home game vs. Hoosick Falls-Tamarac was postponed due to weather.

Next: The laxmen host Greenwich-Cambridge on Wednesday before visiting Stillwater-Mechanicville on Friday.
