If you were planning to attend tonight's season opener at Bruno Stadium between the Tri-City Valleycats and Brockton, you'll have to wait at least an extra 24 hours.
The 'Cats announced Thursday that tonight's game is postponed due to rain, and will be rescheduled as part of a doubleheader when Brockton returns to Troy next month. The home opener is now set for Saturday at 6:30 pm.
Siena & Bethlehem grad Arlo Marynczak will get the opening night start for the 'Cats. Tickets for tonight's game can be exchanged for rainchecks at the box office until 5 pm today.

We are keeping a close eye on the rain, as a small number of today's games have already been rained out. To wit:
Softball:
Albany Academy @ LaSalle has been cancelled, and will not be rescheduled.
Cohoes @ Bethlehem has been postponed, with no make-up date set as of press time.
Troy @ Lansingburgh has been rescheduled for Monday.
Baseball:
Cohoes @ Mohonasen has been cancelled, and as of now will not be rescheduled.
Maple Hill @ Ravena has been rescheduled for next Friday, May 16.
Ichabod Crane @ Lansingburgh has been rescheduled for tomorrow at 11 am. Don't count on that sticking, as we're hearing the rain will leave sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Troy High got back on the winning track on Thursday at Cohoes.
The baseball team snapped a 4 game losing streak in blowing away the Tigers, 14-3, gaining a split of the season series, with each team winning at the other's field.
The same cannot be said for Cohoes softball, as Troy swept the Tigers for the 2nd straight year, 8-1. Troy is now 5-0 in softball vs. Cohoes over 3 seasons (2023-5). Troy goes to 9-1 in Colonial Council play, 9-5 overall.
Troy softball gets the rest of the week off, as tomorrow's rescheduled game vs. Saratoga has now been cancelled, and will not be rescheduled a 2nd time, as the regular season ends next Thursday. Troy baseball is scheduled to play Ballston Spa tomorrow at 11, but I wouldn't put too much stock on that, either.

Former Amsterdam & UAlbany basketball standout Todd Cetnar is returning to the Foothills Council, but not to Amsterdam.
Instead, Cetnar will coach Gloversville next season, his first coaching job in high school. Best of luck to Todd in his new venture.
