News & notes

Call it a settlement. Call it a compromise. Call it however you want, but LaSalle no longer is under the death penalty in Section II.

The school reached an agreement with the NYSPHSAA to lift the wide-range, 1 year postseason ban on the athletic program, with the exception of baseball, which is understandable, since the crux of the current problem began with a premature scrimmage out of state in South Carolina in March.

The decision comes just in time for the Cadets as they've begun the fall season. The school will be on probation until the end of the 2027-8 season. LaSalle had dropped its appeal of the ban, leading to the settlement.

The Colonial Council is slowly getting their 2025-6 standings grid started. Keep in mind that, just like us shlubs on the fringes of the press, they don't have all the results available.

For example, Troy's first two matches of the season, which took place last week, still have not been reported. Bearing this in mind, Jack O'Keefe's club is, going by what we have, 1-1 after losing to Voorheesville on Wednesday. Troy hosts Albany Academy at Frear Park today at 4 pm.

Now, let's take a look at Thursday's action.....
