Troy High sports review, through October 17

The fall season is winding down. Golf & tennis are done, though one golfer will return to the course before graduation.......

Volleyball:

Current record: 16-1.

Yes, you read that right. Mohonasen spoiled Senior Night on Friday, collecting a receipt from the Lady Horses with a 3-1 victory, the same score by which Troy won at Mohon nearly 2 weeks ago.

Next: The regular season finale is at Lansingburgh on Tuesday, with sectional pairings to be announced a week later.

Football:

Current record: 5-2 (3-1 Class A Capital Division).

Jordan Canzeri's squad brought home the Collar City Cup, as expected, beating winless LaSalle. Coupled with Amsterdam getting squashed by Niskayuna, Troy now sits in 2nd place in the division.

Next: Troy visits Amsterdam in the season finale, looking to lock down 2nd place, as Nisky clinched the division title.

Golf:

Senior Joey Degnan qualified for the state tournament in June, despite finishing at 13 over par over the two days of competition.

Men's soccer:

Swimming:

Current record: 4-4.

Troy/Averill Park fell to Ballston Spa on Wednesday, but came right back to beat Burnt Hills-Scotia on Friday to get back to .500. It was Senior Day for the swimmers, too.

Next: The season finale is at Guilderville on Wednesday.

Men's soccer:

Final regular season record: 6-10.

To give coach Russell Hines credit, the Horses fared better than they did in 2024, but they still haven't figured out teams like Mohonasen.

Next: Sectional pairings will be announced Monday morning.

Women's soccer:

Final regular season record: 3-12-1.

Jarret Farrell's club snapped a 7 game losing streak in beating Schenectady, but fell to Mohonasen for the 2nd time this season on Thursday. Now, they'll find out their sectional fate on Monday as well.
