News & notes

WNYT's Rodger Wyland got on the stump for Saratoga & Notre Dame grad Anthony Weaver, who is interviewing for possible head coaching jobs in Atlanta, Arizona, and with the team that drafted him more than 20 years ago, Baltimore. This after being the defensive coordinator under Mike McDaniel in Miami this season. McDaniel was fired on Thursday. We think Weaver should look into a promotion with the Dolphins. Don't you?

Siena's women's basketball team saw their 6 game winning streak end at the hands of Rider on Thursday in a matinee, 61-59, spoiling Kids' Day for over 1600 fans at UHY Center. The Saints stay at home and will entertain Merrimack on Saturday in a benefit for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY (WVCR, 2 pm). The men host Merrimack tonight at MVP Arena (WJMZ, 7 pm).
