Troy High sports review, through January 9

Let's just jump right into it.

Bowling:

Current record: 7-4 (or 8-3).

Don Poutre's club came out of the holiday break hot, beating Ravena & Schalmont, but, insofar as we know, gained a season split with Voorheesville. Thursday's match has not been reported as of press time, and, usually, if Poutre doesn't post anything in the morning announcements the next day, it's usually a sign Troy lost.

Next: 3 matches in 4 days for the 2nd straight week. Troy will be the "road" team vs. LaSalle on Monday, then travel to Mohonasen on Tuesday, before returning home for a rematch with Lansingburgh on Thursday.

Swimming:

Current record: 4-2.

The Flying Devil Brothers fell to Bethlehem as their midseason slump continues.

Next: Back home to face Niskayuna on Tuesday.

Women's basketball:

Current record: 7-2 (6-0 Colonial Council).

All signs now point to a 1st place showdown vs. Albany Academy on January 30 after Troy took down LaSalle on Tuesday, spoiling Kate Gilooly's return to Zotto Gym. Then, Will Harris' club crushed Cohoes on Friday. Kitty litter, anyone?

Next: The ladies host Lansingburgh on Tuesday, then travel to Mohonasen on Friday.

Men's basketball:

Current record: 7-0 (4-0 Colonial Council).

Jamil Hood's squad collected a receipt of their own from LaSalle, then obliterated Cohoes, as the Tigers made their first visit to Troy a night to forget.

Next: It's a battle for city bragging rights with Lansingburgh on Tuesday, and then, Mohonasen comes in on Friday.
