Delanie Hill led 5 Great Danes in double figures as UAlbany took down UMass-Lowell, 74-62, on Kids' Day at Broadview Center on Saturday. The matinee attracted just under 1500 fans, which speaks to a lack of pre-game promotion outside the campus. Albany (11-4) will play Bryant this Saturday.
On the other hand, the Albany men have dropped three in a row after falling to Lowell, 71-83. Amir Lindsey had 19 points, leading 4 Great Danes in double figures. The men will have Kids' Day, sponsored by the United Way, this Saturday vs. Bryant.
Siena's men snapped a 3 game losing streak on Sunday in toppling Rider, 74-65. Gavin Doty led the Saints with 19 points. They'll be back Friday at MVP Arena vs. Merrimack.
The turn of the year hasn't slowed down the women at Siena, though, as they ran their current winning streak to 6 in a row in beating Iona, 94-80, on Saturday. A Kids' Day matinee is under way as we speak vs. Iona. Results tomorrow.
Union College's men's hockey team came out of the holiday break, thumping Royal Military College in an exhibition, 9-0, on Saturday. Tomato can city. The same, however, cannot be said for the women, who have now gone winless in their last 4 games (0-3-1) after falling to Brown, 3-1, Saturday night.
There's something about Vermont that turns 518 college teams into weaklings.
We know about the dominance the Catamounts have enjoyed vs. Albany in basketball. Vermont's hockey team had their way with RPI on Saturday night, with a 3-0 shutout. RPI falls to 5-14 with the loss. The women aren't that much better, at 6-17, after losing to Yale, 7-2, on Saturday.
