Troy High sports review, through January 2

Welcome to 2026. The biggest tests for Troy's sports teams are still to come.

Men's basketball:

Current record: 5-0 (2-0 Colonial Council).

Unlike the College Football Playoffs, there was almost no rust for Jamil Hood's squad after 2 weeks of nothing but practices, as they held off Watervliet-Heatly, 54-47, on Friday night.

Next: It's a trip to noisy McCormick Hall at LaSalle on Tuesday, and, then, Cohoes, blown out by Cobleskill-Richmondville, comes in next Friday.

Women's basketball:

Current record: 5-2 (4-0 Colonial Council).

The Glens Falls Holiday Tournament was turned into a 1 day double dip, as Monday's game vs. Hudson Falls was cancelled, sparing the Bulldogs a likely beatdown. The host Black Bears, however, collected a receipt on Will Harris and the Lady Horses on Tuesday.

Next: Kate Gilooly returns to Zotto Gym with LaSalle on Tuesday, and then, it's a trip to Cohoes.

Bowling & swimming resume this week:

Bowling:

Monday vs. Ravena.

Tuesday @ Schalmont.

Thursday vs. Voorheesville.

Swimming:

Tuesday vs. Bethlehem.
