News & notes

Troy High is still looking for wins in cross country and golf.

The cross country squads, for the 2nd straight week, did not submit complete scores from Saturday's meet at Shenendehowa. Things must be so bad, they are not submitting results to avoid total embarrassment. The Flying Horses (0-3 for both the men & women) are doing the best they can, but there has to be something to motivate them to do better.

The women's golf team didn't play Burnt Hills on Saturday, as the guys did. Instead, they had a make-up date with the Academy of Holy Names, out of the Colonial Council. The meet was supposed to take place two weeks ago, per Schedule Galaxy, which never acknowledged the change in dates.

Not surprisingly, then, Troy's women remain winless, as Holy Names won handily, 91-103. Molly Bisceglia was low for Troy with a 46. She also had low score for the school overall, as the guys fell to the Spartans, with Jaleel Goodbee posting a 51 over 9 holes to lead Troy. They're back on the links today against Columbia.

It's wait 'til next year for Ian Anderson & the Atlanta Braves.

Anderson was lifted after 3 innings and 73 pitches Sunday night, but the bullpen could not hold off the Los Angeles Dodgers. Former Tri-City Valleycat Enrique "Kiki" Hernandez tied it with a homer in the 6th, and Cody Bellinger won it with a solo shot in the 7th, the Dodgers advanced to the World Series, which starts tomorrow, 4-3.

Anderson gave up 2 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2, in his 3 innings.
