News & notes

First, the Albany Empire lost their top assistant coach when Les Moss left for Iowa a couple of weeks back.

Now, with less than 2 months before the season opener, the team needs a new head coach, as Rob Keefe resigned Monday. The Albany Times-Union is citing the lack of team management behind the scenes as a probable reason for Keefe's departure, and as of press time, the Empire doesn't have a full roster as yet, which is a little weird.

One of my high school teachers had a saying for things like this. Stupidity runs rampant.

Update, 10:38 pm: Keefe will rejoin Les Moss in Iowa.
=======================================
Troy High softball has added two non-league games to their schedule, per Schedule Galaxy, both against Colonial Council teams.

Cross-town rival Catholic Central visits Troy High for the first time in 7 years on May 3 in what now is the Lady Horses' home opener. Then, it's a Mother's Day matinee (11 am) against Cohoes on May 9. As of now, the baseball team hasn't scheduled any non-league games. We should note that the May 15 game at Albany will be played at the College of St. Rose.

Meanwhile, the men's lacrosse schedule is finally out. Since Schenectady doesn't have a lacrosse team, Troy has a 13 game schedule, jam packed over a little more than a month. Here we go:

May 3: Home opener at Picken Field vs. Guilderland.
May 4: Niskayuna.
May 6: @ Shenendehowa.
May 13: Colonie.
May 15: @ Albany.
May 18: Ballston Spa.
May 20: @ Shaker.
May 22: Columbia.
May 25: @ Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.
May 27: @ Bethlehem.
May 29: @ Averill Park.
June 1: Home finale vs. CBA.
June 3: @ Saratoga.
