News & notes

 WNYT sports director/WTMM midday host Rodger Wyland, writing in today's Albany Times-Union, is poor-mouthing the Albany Empire's chances this season, now that they've lost coach Rob Keefe and assistant Les Moss to the Indoor Football League's Iowa Barnstormers within the last few days. Wyland suggests that the Empire, who will begin play in the National Arena League at the end of May, should switch to the IFL next season.

Wishful thinking, coming from someone like Wyland, who should know better.
========================================
Holy Trinity, the merger of Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons and Catholic Central in football, has decided to opt out of the rest of the Fall II season due to a lack of players. The Pride is just a couple of years removed from a state title appearance in Syracuse, but the combination of COVID issues and injuries ravaging the team have them reconsidering the spring season. Best of luck in the fall.
