News & notes

 The Tri-City Valleycats were among several teams, including high school and other pro squads, to have a game rained out on Friday. Now, weather permitting, of course, the 'Cats will play a double-header at Sussex County (New Jersey) this afternoon, with the first game at 2 pm.

====================================
Kevin Huerter came off the bench to contribute 10 points, as Atlanta defeated the Knicks, 105-94, to take a 2-1 lead in games in their best of 7 1st round series.

Game 4 is Sunday.
====================================
Rain also washed out softball & baseball games between territorial rivals Troy & Averill Park on Friday. They'll try again today at 1 pm. That forces Troy to cancel a non-league softball game vs. Cohoes, which was set for 10 am, as league schedule takes priority.

Update, 9:44 am.: Averill Park has announced that the baseball & softball games have been postponed again. The boys will try again on Tuesday, and the women on Thursday. The lacrosse game between AP & Troy is still on for 11 am. The tennis match between the two schools was moved up and played on Thursday, with AP posting an 8-0 shutout.

However, not everyone was rained out.

LaSalle's Liam Manlon nearly had a triple hat trick, as he scored 8 goals to the lead the Cadets to a 24-0 drubbing of Schenectady-Mohonasen in a non-league lacrosse match on Friday.

In other lacrosse action:

On the men's side, Saratoga routed Colonie, 10-1, in a Suburban Council game. In women's action, Schuylerville clipped Scotia-Glenville, 14-12, in the Foothills Council.

In baseball:

Saratoga Catholic swept a doubleheader from Cambridge, taking the first game, 10-4, then blew out Cambridge in the nightcap, 21-4. That game was called after 5 innings due to the mercy rule. The Saints scored 11 runs in the 1st, and 10 in the 4th.

The Academy of Holy Names had two games. On Thursday, they blew out Cobleskill-Richmondville, 13-3, then smacked down Albany Academy, 10-5, on Friday. Cobleskill-Richmondville then fell victim to the mercy rule on Friday, absorbing a 19-1 pounding in 5 innings against Cohoes. The Tigers also won over Cobleskill-Richmondville in baseball, 10-1.
==============================================
UAlbany's baseball season is over, as the Great Danes were eliminated by Stony Brook, 3-2. The Seawolves have 30 wins on the season, while Jon Mueller's club finishes 22-25.
==============================================
Rain also wiped out Albany Twilight League action on Friday. Hate to break it to y'all, but the wet stuff is going to be sticking around for a while, making it difficult for Section II to finish its regular seasons in baseball, softball, & tennis.
