 For the first time ever, the Baseball Hall of Fame held its induction ceremonies on a weekday, despite the fact that not a lot of kids would be able to attend due to the start of school in much of New York. Everyone else starts today.

Headlining the class of 2020-1 was former Yankee star and current Miami Marlins CEO Derek Jeter, who began his career with the Albany-Colonie Yankees. Ted Simmons (St. Louis/Milwaukee) and Larry Walker (Montreal/Colorado/St. Louis) were also enshrined. The Hall also posthumously welcomed the founder, if you will, of the MLB Players Association, the late Marvin Miller.

The Tri-City Valleycats' game vs. Sussex County was suspended by rain in the 3rd inning with the game tied, 1-1, on Wednesday. They'll try to finish it today, starting at 4 pm, with the regularly scheduled game, shrunken to 7 innings, to follow. It's the final home date of the regular season for the 'Cats, who are fighting for a playoff spot.
