Saturday's high school & college scoreboard, 10/2

 It was a busy Saturday for RPI, in more ways than one.

The football Engineers ran their record to 5-0, dispatching the University of Rochester, 38-22:

On the other hand, it was not a good day for the RPI women. Their soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision at home to Skidmore. Their field hockey team fell to St. Lawrence, 2-1, and the women's hockey team, coming off an exhibition win over Syracuse, reverted to their losing ways in falling to Vermont, 4-1.

Speaking of hockey, RPI & Union played an exhibition game, with the Engineers beating the Dutchmen, 5-2. They'll play for real in just a few weeks, though the regular season starts for RPI next weekend.

In other football action of local college interest:

Union kept pace with RPI, downing Buffalo St., 30-17. Unfortunately, UAlbany fell to 0-4, as a late rally fell short against Delaware, 20-15.

High school football:

Class AA:

CBA 53, Queensbury 0.

Class A:

Burnt Hills 42, Queensbury 21. Matt Shell's Spartans have won three in a row after losing their opener.

Class B:

Glens Falls 39, Hudson Falls 14.

Non-league:

Fonda-Fultonville 21, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 14.
=================================
Not a good day if you're a Troy High supporter.

The women's soccer team saw their 2 game winning streak snapped in the first half of a men's & women's doubleheader at Guilderland, 7-0. The men similarly fell to the Dutchmen, 5-0. Guilderland's YouTube announcer had the Troy men's record incorrect, ignoring the fact that Mike Murnane's club had beaten Chatham in a non-league game on Sept. 7. Their winless streak is now up to 9 games, 0-8-1 over that stretch. The draw came against Schenectady. The girls are now 2-7 in Suburban Council play. Two weeks remain in the regular season, with three games left for the women, four for the guys.
