The last Section II football championship was decided Sunday in a twilight game between Ravena and Gloversville. Ravena hadn't won a sectional title since 2004, and an opportunity opened up when defending champion Schuylerville was dropped down to Class C, where the Black Horses won a sectional title on Friday night.
Ravena built a big first half lead, and the defense made it stand up for a 33-14 win. WTEN has the highlights:
Ravena now moves on to state play, and will return to CBA on Friday for a regional semi-final.

The College of St. Rose won the Northeast 10 women's soccer championship on Sunday, downing Central Connecticut State, 1-0. The Lady Knights advance to the NCAA's for the 16th time in the last 19 seasons, not including 2020, of course.
