COVID be buggin'

The Albany Times-Union did a profile piece on former Shaker football player Brandon Barlow, now at Boston College, ahead of the Eagles' scheduled appearance at the Military Bowl, set for Monday.

Unfortunately for Barlow and Boston College, the game won't be played.

Eagles coach Jeff "Don't Meet Me" Hafley announced earlier today that BC is dealing with a COVID outbreak on their team, and don't have enough players available for the game. It is not known as of press time if Barlow is one of those players.

Hafley, in his 2nd season with Boston College, has landed bowl bids in both seasons, but opted out last year due to COVID concerns. It is the 3rd time in 4 years that a bowl game involving the Eagles has been cancelled.. The 2018 First Responder Bowl was cancelled due to weather issues, specifically lightning.

Closer to home, RPI is scheduled to play Vermont on Thursday. They will, as of now, but it won't be a home game anymore.

The school announced earlier this week that the game will now be played in Burlington on Thursday night due to a COVID outbreak on the RPI campus. The school's official statement stated that the change was made out of an abundance of caution and concern over the pandemic's effects on the team. The game was to be broadcast on RPI-TV, but now will air only on WRPI-FM (91.5).
