UAlbany is losing football players to the transfer portal left & right, but coach Mark Gattuso is sticking around.
Gattuso and AD Mark Benson finalized a contract extension, first negotiated after the 2019 season, that will keep Gattuso at UAlbany through 2024. That it took two years, including two straight losing seasons, to get it done suggests that maybe UAlbany administration might've thought about breaking off the deal.
You wonder, then, if maybe those players would've stayed if they knew Gattuso would be retained. Something to think about.
