Traditionally, LaSalle's hockey team usually comes out of the annual Plattsburgh trip with either a win or a tie, sometimes both. Not this year.
Tim Flanigan's skating Cadets were blown out of the rink by Plattsburgh, 7-1, on Sunday, and have been outscored 17-2 in three non-league losses, heading into the home opener tomorrow vs. Bethlehem. League newcomer Carter Irving took one for the team, giving up all 7 goals. Caleb Ellis likely will be in goal for LaSalle tomorrow.

On the bright side for LaSalle, track star Getachew "Gitch" Hayes was named the Male Athlete of the Year in cross country track by the Albany Times-Union, and will be competing in a national event in San Diego, the first Section II runner to do so in 15 years. What can he do for an encore?
