High School Fridays: Shenendehowa @ Troy (men's basketball), 1/28/22

Last season, Shenendehowa dominated everyone in the Suburban Council-----except Troy High. The Plainsmen defeated Troy by a cumulative total of six points in two meetings, the last of which was a league championship game, since there were no sectionals last year due to COVID.

However, Shen has not been the dominant force on the men's side this season in the Blue division. They've been shown to be vulnerable. Troy is vying with Albany for first in the Gray division, so something surely had to give at Zotto Gym.

Shen led for most of the game, up until the 3rd quarter, when Troy took its first lead. Up to that point, the Plainsmen led by as many as 7 points. Troy built up a 11 point lead in the 4th quarter, but back came the Plainsmen. With under a minute remaining, Mason Courtney tied the game at 58. With 3 seconds left, Carter Seeberger won it for Shen, as a desperation heave for 3 from midcourt by Troy fell short. The Plainsmen escape with a 60-58 victory, sending Troy to its 2nd straight loss.

Troy will hit the road to visit old friend Curtis Sankey and Columbia on Tuesday before returning home, where they'll play three of their final five games, starting with Niskayuna next Friday.

Meanwhile, in Clifton Park, Shen's women's team blew out Troy, 63-20. We'll have the stats tomorrow.

Enjoy the video.
