Leaving them feeling blue (Troy @ Saratoga, 1/10/22)

 "When I'm feeling blue/All I have to do/Is take a look at you/Then I don't feel so blue"-"A Groovy Kind of Love", Wayne Fontana & The Mindbenders, 1967 & Phil Collins, 1988.

In past years, Troy High has had trouble with Saratoga, either on the road or at home. Tonight's game, rescheduled from last week due to COVID issues, was in Saratoga, still recovering from Sunday's ice storm.

John Killian's club dressed just seven players, up from six on Saturday, but we have learned in the last couple of days that being undermanned doesn't mean being at a disadvantage. There've been a couple of college games, including Missouri upsetting Alabama on Saturday, that have had similar results. Troy couldn't completely shake the Blue Streaks until the 4th quarter. Saratoga actually tied the game at one point in the second half, and got within a point twice, but could not overtake the Flying Horses, who've now won four of their last five with a 61-46 decision to go to 6-4 overall (4-2 Suburban Council).

Enjoy the video. I caution that the stream stops with 5 seconds left in the game. Even Saratoga's YouTube operator knew it was over after Troy committed an intentional shot clock violation at the end of the game.

Troy will have the next three days off before beginning a stretch of playing five games in eight days, starting Friday at Albany.
