News & notes

Rain & wet grounds forced postponement of a number of games on Monday, and forced some schedule changes for today.

For example, Troy High, which was scheduled to play Shenendehowa in baseball, softball, & tennis, had all three postponed. The baseball game was moved to today, replacing a Troy road game at Scotia-Glenville, which will likely not be made up. The changes are not in today's newspapers.

Let's look at what was played on Monday:

Softball:

Colonial Council:

Academy of Holy Names 12, Cobleskill-Richmondville 0 (5 innings).

Suburban Council:

Albany 14, Schenectady 0 (5 innings---we think. No box score was submitted.)
Guilderland 6, Averill Park 3.
Bethlehem 4, Colonie 2.

Baseball:

Foothills Council:

Queensbury 7, Hudson Falls 0.
Gloversville 3, Broadalbin-Perth 1.

Suburban Council:

Colonie 5, Bethlehem 3.
Guilderland 6, Averill Park 4. The Dutchmen have the league's best record at 10-1.
Schenectady 4, Albany 1. The Patriots pick up their first win of the season.
Ballston Spa 8, Columbia 3.

Tennis:

Non-league:

Mekeel Christian 7, Schoharie 0.

Men's lacrosse:

Foothills Council:

Queensbury 20, Hudson Falls 0. The Spartans led, 12-0, at halftime, and never looked back.

Suburban Council:

Bethlehem 9, CBA 3.

Colonial Council:

Voorheesville 15, Catholic Central 3 (mistakenly listed as a Wasaren League game in the paper).

Non-league:

Hoosick Falls-Tamarac 12, Ichabod Crane-Maple Hill 0.

Women's lacrosse:

Foothills Council:

Scotia-Glenville 16, Johnstown 3.
Greenwich 15, Amsterdam 13.

Suburban Council:

Burnt Hills 17, Shaker 6. MK Lescault had 7 goals, and Ella Blesi and Caroline Kogut each notched a hat trick for the Spartans.

Non-league:

Academy of Holy Names 15, Voorheesville 6.
=================================
For Shenendehowa alumni, it's good news, bad news on Wednesday.

The good news is that Ian Anderson will, in fact, pitch for Atlanta in the final game of their series vs. the Mets. Problem is, it's a matinee game, with a 1:10 pm first pitch. I'd imagine some folks will be scoreboard watching before the final bell of the day.
==================================
We need to stress this as much as possible. Not every game gets reported to the papers. If you're a parent attending a game, don't wait for the coaches to call it in. It'll help your schools tremendously.
