It was Senior Day for the Siena softball team on Sunday, and the Saints celebrated by sweeping Monmouth, 1-0 & 7-1. With just 2 seniors on the roster, the Saints took the time to honor Monmouth's three seniors as well in a short pre-game ceremony.
For what it's worth, Joe Mixie, the voice of the Tri-City Valleycats and Siena's women's basketball, also mans the PA booth for Siena softball. He'll be back at work with the Valleycats for their home opener May 17.
Unfortunately, Siena's baseball team continues to struggle, as they lost to Canisius, 8-0. The Saints are an unsightly 9-30 overall, 6-9 in the MAAC, with a week to go before tournament play.

Hudson Valley Community College's baseball & softball teams are the Rodney Dangerfields of spring sports in the hometown.
We say that because the Vikings don't get enough press as opposed to RPI, Siena, et al, leaving bloggers like ye scribe to go to the school's website to obtain game results. I know newspaper budgets are the size of thimbles these days, but this is ridiculous.
To that end, it was a good day on the road for the Vikings on Sunday.
The baseball team split a doubleheader with Mohawk Valley Community College, winning the first game, 3-1, then dropping the nightcap, 3-0. The Softball team swept Genesee Community College, 11-3 & 14-2.
For what it's worth, this blog was the only thing resembling the press covering Saturday's Vikings-Valleycats exhibition game.

Boston College senior Brandon Barlow (Shaker) went undrafted in the NFL Draft last week, but there is hope after all. Barlow has been invited to a minicamp with the Kansas City Chiefs. If so many teams were interested in Barlow over the three-day draft, why didn't anyone take a chance?

The Albany Patroons won again Sunday, defeating Connecticut, 129-127. However, there is no box score or game report in today's editions. If you look at the TBL standings, you'll see the result as the Patroons (12-2) remain in first place.

The Albany Empire needed overtime Saturday to pick up their first win, outlasting Jacksonville, 61-60.
